Mission Statement
Although initially setup to tackle demand on our local Foodbank and heartened by the positive impact we seem to be having, our fundamental aims are now definitively
– to reduce the amount of food going to landfill
– to ensure that we reduce our own carbon footprint
– to give opportunities for local people to increase their recycling and
– to develop our community and advance citizenship.
About Community Larder
Every year, the UK throws away around 9.5 million tonnes of food much of which could be repurposed to feed our communities instead of ending up in landfills.
Our community initiative, The Larder, has now found a permanent home at the Community Annexe within the primary school grounds. Here, we have fridges and freezers stocked with fresh, perishable items generously provided by local supermarkets, including Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Lidl, and Marks & Spencer.
We invite everyone to come by, select up to 10 items, and take as many items as you like from our “Rumble Box” – an assortment of foods nearing their use-by date. We even have pet food available to ensure our furry friends are cared for too.
Join us in reducing food waste and supporting a sustainable future. Everyone is welcome!
